I dig that.

thats a pretty good solution to that. I approve.

“ Oh shit, we’re out of drywall. What do we do?”
“I have an idea"

It looks neat, but it looks like a cat owner’s worst nightmare

I like that a lot

That is neat. I’d like to see books on it.

I actually like that quite a bit. I might stain all the wood a hair lighter or darker and add sheen
so it looks finished.

welp.. as my cats favourite trick is tripping me up on the top stair.. im sure ill end up tumbling down somehow getting an arm stuck in there and ripping it off
but it does look rather pretty

I would vote darker finish, or maybe more of a yellow tint with a lacquer
![]() 02/27/2019 at 17:16 |

I really like that.

Like so, perhaps?

Ew no

I’m only annoyed that the flooring finish doesn’t match. Otherwise that’s a nice move.

What’s up with those sconces in the stairway? no likey.

The barn door fad can die now

I would argue it’s been gaining traction -- which seemed impossible, given how trendy it was. It is approaching: S T A N D A R D

Just more things to smash your furniture into.

Most of my flips have one somewhere in the build. Usually a bathroom which doesn’t make much sense to me.

sliding doors + bars = prison look

The local code enforcer made the previous owner of m y house build something similar to this wall to protect someone from falling down my attic stairs. I didn’t realize they were being stylish.

Hotels have them now. HAMPTON INNS. Barn doors are soon going to go the way of little glass tile.

Ooh, a built-in cat playground.

I like this.

this is appealing to me...I have a similar spot in my house that would benefit from something similar.

More like a uniform amber, that looks a bit too red in the darker portions for my taste. What i want would likely require a light wood to start, with a few layers of stain and some heavy clear coat.

Oh God, the previous owners put those glass Chiclet tiles in my kitchen and the upstairs bathroom. They're on the list to get pulled out eventually, but I've got other things higher on the punch list. Fads die fast, just stick with what you personally like, if you have no discernible personal taste or style, then go with things that are consistently popular over several decades.

I love the stair detail, but the various wood and stain choices do not seem to jive and the one end grain shot of the one shelf is clearly Douglas fir, but not so sure about the rest. But the carpentry in the stairwell had me searching and staring at it for a while. Thanks for passing that along.

One could argue that it’s preferable to a pocket door, but that may not be saying much.
